KUALA LUMPUR: A man was shocked to find his car damaged after parking at a three-way intersection in a People's Housing Project (PPR) area in Selangor.
Upon discovering his car's side mirror broken, he also found a warning note, seemingly written on tissue paper, expressing someone's dissatisfaction.
"Next time, don't park here if you care about your car. If others don't park here, don't simply park here. First warning," the note read.
The man explained that the parking shortage left him no choice but to park his vehicle with its side mirror folded and the handbrake released, allowing it to be moved if it obstructed traffic at the intersection.
He had been living at his sister's house in the housing area since his mother's recent passing.
Planning to remove his car the next morning, he found no available space around the housing area.
"I am not rich, just using an old Kancil car. I have been staying at my sister's place since my mother passed away two weeks ago. So, I am new here. Last night, I struggled to find parking and had no choice but to park my car at the intersection. My side mirror was folded, and the handbrake was released to allow my car to be pushed forward if it blocked traffic," he said.
In a Facebook post shared yesterday, he recounted that upon returning to his vehicle around 10pm, he found the warning note and his mirror broken.
"If I parked incorrectly, maybe the resident could inform me via the neighbourhood WhatsApp group related to the PPR. In that WhatsApp group, there are my sister, brother-in-law, and neighbours," he said.
Questions arose as to whether his parking method obstructed passage, but he maintained that he left enough space for other vehicles to move.
"Before I left my car, there was still space for other cars to turn. Maybe because I use an old Kancil car, they immediately damaged it without informing me via the WhatsApp group," he responded in the comments section.
Following his viral post on Facebook, netizens described the incident as an act of betrayal mixed with threats. They urged him to file a report for his personal safety.
A user known as Farhan An commented, "The situation depicts the reality of PPR residents having a low mentality, as claimed by a university lecturer. The longer one lives, the more correct the views of the lecturer who admitted she cannot live with the B40 due to their mentality. She is right."
"Pray to Allah that the person who vandalised your car has a change of heart. This incident should serve as a lesson to park in more appropriate spots next time," said another user Kasman Kamis.
Mat Gerard urged the victim to file a report, noting the clear threat in the note with the phrase "first warning".
Firdaus Zed Roslan echoed this, pointing out that residents often have too many vehicles without realising they live in cramped housing.
Lienda Hamid suggested that the victim check nearby car owners' recordings to track down the perpetrator.
"Join the WhatsApp group, check hidden CCTV cameras, dash cams, and file a police report. In this day and age, don't be afraid to fight back. Take action," she said.
