PN MPs wear white ribbon on their arms as sign of protest [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The opposition bloc is wearing a white ribbon around their left arm today in protest against the decision made by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul regarding the six parliamentary seats held by former Bersatu members of parliament.

"Riben putih di lengan kiri, sebagai protes berlakunya reformati, spesifik merujuk 49A (white ribbon on the left arm, as a protest against 'reformati', specifically referring to Article 49A of the Federal Constitution)," said Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) during the questions for oral answers session.

Last week, opposition bloc chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said all Perikatan Nasional (PN) members of Parliament will wear white armbands during the Parliamentary sitting this week.

The Kota Baru member of parliament said the move is a sign of protest against the decision made by Johari regarding the six parliamentary seats held by the MPs sacked from Bersatu.

The six MPs whose memberships ceased after declaring their support for the unity government were Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) dan Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang).
