KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians of all races are looking forward to the installation ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which will take place tomorrow.
The installation marks another historic moment in the country's Constitutional Monarchy system.
Malaysians collectively are excited to watch the installation, and they are also hoping for a harmony, prosperity and unity under His Majesty's rule.
Bahasa Melayu teacher Asmawi Ahmad, 33 said he was eagerly anticipating the installation tomorrow and was looking forward to seeing how the ceremony would unfold.
"Usually, I will watch it on TV channels or live on YouTube if I am outside.
"I will also inform all my friends about it because this event, the installation, is highly anticipated. So, it's not surprising that people will be glued to their television or devices to watch the installation," he said.
Asmawi added that everyone is hoping for wise leadership amid the current challenges.
"Everyone wants to see a wise leader in governing the country.
"As a Malaysian, I hope for progress and reforms in our nation, both economically and socio-politically, so that the oppressed in society can receive justice and protection.
"Your Majesty, congratulations on this installation. As a citizen, I extend my heartfelt wishes and hope that you will govern Malaysia with peace, wisdom, and prosperity," he said when approached by the New Straits Times.
Meanwhile, executive accountant Damia Aqilah, 24 said while she was excited about the ceremony, she was also looking forward to harmony and stability under His Majesty's rule.
"I will be watching the ceremony with my family on the television and we are excited for tomorrow, especially the marching band.
"I pray the ceremony will go on smoothly.
"I hope Malaysia will be more harmonious and the economy will become more stable under our new King," she said.
Darren Ong, 33,expressed his hope for increased racial harmony under His Majesty's rule and looked forward to seeing how His Majesty will lead the country and shape its future.
As the nation celebrates this historic event, the hope for a brighter, more harmonious, and prosperous Malaysia under the new leadership of Sultan Ibrahim shines brightly.
