Esha cyberbullying case: Police still waiting to record statements from two suspects

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have so far recorded two statements following a report by the mother of influencer A. Rajeswary, also known as Esha, on her cyberbullying case.

The 30-year-old woman was found dead at her home in an apartment in Setapak on July 5.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said police have recorded two statements, of a businessman and the complainant in relation to the case.

"We are still waiting for two more suspects, including a former Inspector to give their statements," he said when contacted today.

Sukarno said investigation will be conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation,Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955.

When asked whether the suspect who was granted bail RM36,000 for the two charges under Section 506 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 by the Sessions Court on July 16 had posted bail, Sukarno said no bail was posted, as of Friday.

"He will remain at the Sungai Buloh prison until the next court date, unless the family posts bail before that," he said.

On July 16, two suspects, P. Shalini, 34, and B. Sathiskumar, 43, were charged at the Kuala Lumpur magistrate's and Sessions Courts for cyberbullying Esha on June 30.

It was reported that Shalini had admitted to committing the offence under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act which carries a maximum fine of RM100 only.
