Stop spreading fake news, pleads mum of missing 6-year-old [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The mother of a girl who went missing in Iskandar Puteri has urged the public not to spread fake information that could affect the investigation.

Leo Qieo Xin, 37, mother of Albertine Leo Jia Hui, 6, said rumours, fake news and unrelated information about her daughter were spreading on social media.

"Too many people are claiming on social media that they have seen my daughter. This will affect the police's efforts to find my daughter.

"I ask everyone to stop spreading inaccurate information," she told reporters.

A social media post claimed that the missing girl was seen at the Johor Baru Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex with a man.

The post sparked concern that the girl was being taken to Singapore.

Leo Qieo Xin said she was traumatised and constantly worried about her daughter.

She said she travelled from Kluang to Johor Baru to sell drinks at the Bon Odori festival.

She said she was tending to customers when she noticed her daughter had gone missing.

The girl was last seen on Saturday at Eco Galleria in Taman Botani, Iskandar Puteri.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the girl is about 120cm tall, has long black hair, fair skin and a thin build.

He said she was last seen wearing a T-shirt featuring Mickey Mouse.

If you have information on the girl's whereabouts, contact the nearest police station or Inspector Ridzuan Abd Hadi at 017-705 1097.
