PASIR PUTEH: The collision involving two cars at KM10 Jalan Pasir Puteh-Machang here this morning claimed its second life, that of a three-year-old girl.
Pasir Puteh police chief, Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria, said the girl died while being treated at Tengku Anis Hospital.
He added that the girl was travelling in a Perodua Viva with her 36-year-old mother and an 18-year-old relative when the crash occurred.
Her mother died on the spot in the 6:40am incident due to serious head and body injuries. The relative was badly injured and is being treated at the same hospital.
"The driver of the Toyota Cross suffered minor injuries and sought outpatient treatment at the same hospital. Initial investigation showed that the Perodua Viva driver, who was travelling from Machang to Pasir Puteh, lost control of her car, causing it to skid into the opposite lane and collide head-on with the Toyota Cross," he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Those with information about the incident are urged to contact the Pasir Puteh police station, any nearest police station, or the district's traffic investigation assistant officer, Sub Inspector Jafri Alias, at 019-9386224.
