KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian social media users expressed relief and praised the police after six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui was found safe three days after her kidnapping.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi thanked the police for their efforts and Malaysians who provided information and assistance in the search for Leo.
Facebook user Nia Eleena Sadikon said that even though she was not related to Leo, she was deeply concerned about the girl and constantly checked social media for updates.
"It's a very meaningful day for all Malaysians, regardless of race," she said.
Jasmine Diego meanwhile said she hoped Leo and her parents recover from the trauma of the incident.
Allana Tinggom and Bobby Singh said she hoped Leo's kidnappers would face severe punishments for their actions.
Some social media users urged the government to invest in more closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) nationwide.
Leo went missing around 8.30pm on Saturday at the Eco Galleria business centre in Johor.
Earlier today, she was found safe at a hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor.
She has been taken to the hospital for a medical check-up.
So far, five people including two women have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
