PASIR MAS: Muhamad Aizat Mohd Izani's decision to decline a medical studies offer two years ago has proven to be a rewarding one.
By achieving a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), the 20-year-old has validated his unconventional choice.
Aizat, a former student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Panglima Raja, was one of 11 students from the school to achieve this outstanding result.
He admitted that opting to continue his studies in Form Six was a difficult decision, given the attractive offer he had initially received.
"Honestly, many questioned my choice to reject a medical opportunity in favour of sitting for the STPM, but I stayed firm in my decision," he said.
"I wanted to prove that my choice was the right one, and I'm thankful to have achieved excellent results. I now hope to be accepted into a higher education institution and pursue a career in education," he added.
As the third of four siblings, Aizat credited his parents, Mohd Izani Othman, 63, and Norma Hamat, 54, for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout his educational journey.
He expressed hope that his success in STPM would help shift the perception that Form Six is merely a second chance, demonstrating instead that it could be a solid foundation for achieving one's dreams.
