Traffic policeman injured while escorting PM [WATCH]

IPOH: A traffic policeman was slightly injured in an accident while escorting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Persiaran Meru Raya 3, Bandar Meru Raya, today.

In the 10.15am incident, Lance Corporal Mohd Faizol Deraman from the state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department reportedly crashed into the back of a vehicle that had suddenly stopped.

At the time of the incident, Anwar was en route to the 7th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilisation (WCIT 2024) at the Casuarina Hotel @ Meru.

Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris, who was also on the road, stopped immediately to give emergency aid to the victim.

According to a statement on the Perak police Facebook page, the traffic policeman has been referred to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

Anwar, who witnessed the accident, expressed his sympathy and made a donation to help ease the victim's burden, and this was conveyed by the deputy state police chief Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat.
