LANGKAWI: Starting Aug 15, a service fee of RM1 will be applied to online ferry ticket purchases through the Cuti Cuti Langkawi travel agency app.
Cuti Cuti Langkawi general manager Dr Baharin Baharom said that this fee, which had been previously announced but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, would now be implemented as travel normalises.
"This service fee is intended to cover various operational costs such as human resources, office rental, app and website maintenance, and promotion of Langkawi," Baharom said.
The RM1 fee applies to ferry tickets for routes including Kuala Perlis-Langkawi, Kuala Kedah-Langkawi, and Langkawi-Satun, Thailand.
Langkawi residents can avoid the fee by purchasing tickets directly at the counter or through the Ferry Line portal.
