Cement truck crashes into wall, driver dies

KUALA LUMPUR: A man died when the cement truck he was driving crashed into a house wall fence at Jalan Batai Barat, Bukit Damansara, here, at 3.25pm today.

The City Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre in a statement said it received the emergency call and immediately dispatched a team to the scene.

A team from the Sri Hartamas fire station, comprising six personnel and a light fire rescue tander arrived promptly.

"Upon arriving at the scene, we found that the cement truck had collided with the wall fence of a nearby house, causing the truck to overturn and trapping the driver in the cab," said operation commander Rosdi Yussof.

"The rescue operation was conducted with the assistance of the police, the Health Ministry staff and a crane provided by the truck's management.

"Despite the coordinated efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Health Ministry's staff."

He said the case has been handed over to the police for further action.
