KUCHING: Sabah Chief Minister took the time to visit injured Sabah cyclist Akmal Thaqif Begurdy during the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) Sarawak 2024.
Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was accompanied by Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin to meet the 17-year-old from Tawau, at a hotel here.
Akmal was injured while participating in the individual and team road race events on the Pehin Sri Adenan Satem Highway on Aug 15.
Hajiji expressed his sympathy for Akmal's situation and wished him a speedy recovery.
Akmal was accompanied by his parents in Kuching.
Meanwhile, Hajiji attended the opening ceremony of the 21st edition of the games at the Sarawak Stadium, Petra Jaya, last night.
He urged the Sabah contingent competing in Sukma to do their best to achieve the target of 40 gold medals.
