Missing Cheras boys found in elevator after nine hours

KUALA LUMPUR: The two boys reported missing since yesterday afternoon from an apartment in Desa Petaling, Cheras, were found early this morning.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the boys, aged 11 and 10, sleeping after being trapped for about nine hours in an elevator that was undergoing maintenance. The incident occurred at 12.45am.

Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ravindar Singh Sarban Singh confirmed that both boys were found safe and unharmed, but weak.

"There were two police reports filed by their relatives regarding the boys' disappearance yesterday afternoon," Singh said.

He added that the boys left home at 2.30pm to buy pau from a nearby shop before getting trapped in the elevator.

Residents said that the boys had called for help until they became exhausted and fell asleep.
