Police close entire stretch of Jalan Masjid India after second sinkhole emerges [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The entire stretch of Jalan Masjid India has been cordoned off after another sinkhole emerged here early this morning.

The road has been cordoned off from in front of Wisma Haniffa.

Businesses along this stretch, however, have remained open so far.

Police have been stationed along the road and have stopped pedestrians from walking on it.

People were still seen walking and sitting on benches near Wisma Haniffa.

Earlier this morning, a backhoe was seen operating at the main dig site where Vijayaletchumy was swallowed by the initial sinkhole last Friday.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain arrived at Jalan Masjid India at around 11:35am.

He was seen inspecting the site of the latest sinkhole together with Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

Another ground-penetrating radar device was also seen being transported along Jalan Masjid India near the new sinkhole.

Members of the media have gathered near a jewellery shop between the first and second sinkhole sites.
