Woman forced to buy RM1,200 wedding dress after leaving body odour on it

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman in China was forced to buy a 2,000 yuan (RM1,228.35) wedding gown that she didn't want after being accused of leaving a body odour on it while trying it on.

The incident occurred when Momo visited a bridal boutique with her boyfriend and tried on two wedding dresses.

Momo said she disliked the first dress and handed it back to the store employee who was assisting her.

She noticed the worker seemed displeased after receiving the first gown but ignored it and tried on the second wedding dress.

"I didn't like the second wedding dress either and there was no air conditioning on the second floor, so I decided to leave," she said.

As Momo and her boyfriend were getting ready to leave the store, the store worker suddenly stopped them.

"My boyfriend argued with the employees before one of them called the store manager.

"After speaking with the staff, the manager approached us and pointed out the presence of body odour on the dress," said Momo.

She defended herself by explaining that the store was extremely hot with no air conditioning on the second floor, she ended up sweating in her clothes.

"I didn't think I should be held responsible, but to avoid further problems, I had no choice but to pay 2,000 yuan for a wedding gown I didn't want," she said.

"I didn't expect the bridal shop would take such extreme measures over body odour," she added.
