Newborn boy found at abandoned house

KUALA KRAI: A baby boy who still had his umbilical cord attached to him was found at an abandoned house in Lorong Perisai Wira, here, last night.

District police chief Superintendent Mazlan Mamat said the police received a report from a member of the public regarding the discovery of the baby at 9.43pm.

He said a team of officers was dispatched to the scene, where they found the baby wrapped in a batik cloth.

"The baby boy, weighing 2.74kg, was taken to Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai for further treatment.

"An examination there revealed that the baby still had his umbilical cord attached. He has black hair, black eyes, fair skin and no signs of trauma," Mazlan said in a statement today.
