Jalan Kebun, Seri Muda, and Kota Kemuning hit by flash floods

SHAH ALAM: Several low-lying areas around Jalan Kebun, Seri Muda, and Kota Kemuning were affected by flash floods following continuous heavy rainfall that started at 2pm today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said that floodwaters reached depths of up to 0.6 metres in some locations.

He said that monitoring efforts were underway in Jalan Kebun, while the team from the Sri Andalas Fire and Rescue Station was assessing conditions in Kota Kemuning.

"The situation is currently under control, with no evacuations required, and the water levels have receded. Our personnel are actively monitoring the affected areas," he said.

In the meantime, netizens have shared videos and photos showing major roads around Jalan Kebun and Kota Kemuning submerged in floodwaters, including areas near SK Padang Jawa and SK Kota Kemuning.

The floods also left many residents' vehicles stranded and trapped in the water.

On its official Facebook page, Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) said that Bait Al-Mawaddah, an elderly care home under its management located on Jalan Kebun, was also impacted by the flash floods.

Last Friday, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) announced that the monsoon transition phase is expected to commence today and continue through November.
