Bargain hunters swarm Penang Jom Heboh Carnival on final day [WATCH]

BATU KAWAN: The 2024 Penang Karnival Jom Heboh, which concludes today, drew an overwhelming crowd eager to buy items at discounted prices and even receive some for free.

The number of visitors began to increase at noon, with many of them not wanting to miss out on the opportunity to participate in various activities and meet their favourite celebrities.

The event, which is held in conjunction with the Anugerah Bintang Popular (ABPBH) 2024 tour, featured many celebrities.

Artists Ally Iskandar and Syamira Nazir were seen greeting fans at the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP) booth, where they will announce the winner of the Small Journalist Search about 5pm later.

NSTP Business Development and Special Projects Manager Tengku Kaifimirza Tuan Cherit@Tengku Hamzah said the event also included free product giveaway sessions during "Happy Hour", sponsored by companies like Nestle and Yakult."

"A total of 100 packs of 250g of rice sponsored by Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas) and 1kg packs of sugar from Central Sugars Refinery Sdn Bhd (CSR) will be given to visitors on a first come, first served basis this afternoon," he said.

Muruku mixes, which are famous in Penang, are sold at RM10 for 5 packets at the event.

Syarikat Appau Produce Sdn Bhd founder A Swarithaa said the hot sales would last until 10pm tonight.

The 'Ksyok' muruku brand owner said all the muruku mixes were produced by the company at their factory, which is halal and MeSTI certified.

"Usually these five packets are sold at RM20, but in conjunction with the last day of the 2024 Penang Karnival Jom Heboh, we are offering it for RM10.

"This is one of the most sought after mixes, not only during festive seasons but at any time," she said, adding that they prepared 3,000 sets for the event.

She said she was happy to participate in the event as the response was very encouraging.

Meanwhile, Julie's Sales Manager for the North Region, Low said various Julie's products could be found at discounted prices of up to 30 per cent in the event.

"We are open until 9pm so don't miss out on your chance to buy Julie's products at 30 per cent cheaper.

"For instance, Julie's Charm is sold at RM10 at the carnival compared with the original price of RM18.50.

"While Love Letters Chocolate and Sweet Chilli Cheese are sold at a price of RM15 compared with the original price of RM22 and RM21.20, respectively," Low said.
