Mother and son who drowned in Kedah flood close to the end

PADANG TERAP: "When they were alive, they were very close. Even in death, they were just 50 metres apart."

This is what Md Tajuddin Awang Mohammad, 47, had to say about his relative Salmah Mat Zain, 46, and her son Muhammad Rosman Rohadi, 19, who drowned after they were swept away by strong flood currents in Kampung Tanjung Kiri here yesterday.

Their bodies were found entangled among palm oil tree fronds underneath flood waters.

Tajuddin said Muhammad Rosman, who was disabled, followed his mother everywhere.

"We live in the same village and Salmah would always come over. We are deeply saddened," he said.

Tajuddin thanked the authorities and all those who helped look for his Salmah and Muhammad Rosman.

He said they are expected to be buried together later today.
