Kedah floods persist, number of evacuees rises to 1,300 overnight

ALOR STAR: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has climbed to over 1,300 overnight, as flooding persists across the state.

This marks an increase from 1,102 individuals from 353 families who were placed in 11 flood relief centres (PPS) by 11pm yesterday.

An 8am update from the Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat today showed 1,369 evacuees from 445 families spread across the same 11 PPS.

Pokok Sena is the worst affected, with 713 evacuees from 230 families now taking shelter in five PPS, up from 652 individuals from 201 families at midnight.

In Kota Setar, 372 evacuees from 117 families are being sheltered in three PPS, a rise from 165 individuals from 50 families.

However, Kubang Pasu has seen a slight drop, with 284 evacuees from 98 families in three PPS, down from 285 individuals from 102 families.

Meanwhile, the Public Infobanjir portal reports that four rivers—Sungai Anak Bukit in Kota Setar, Sungai Padang Terap (Kubang Pasu), Sungai Bata (Kubang Pasu), and Sungai Titi Kerbau (Pendang)—have breached danger levels, with water level trends continuing to rise.
