Police investigate Palestine protest outside US embassy

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into an unauthorised assembly in support of Palestine held outside the back entrance of the United States Embassy in Jalan Taman U-Thant yesterday morning.

Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Mohamad Lazim Ismail said the assembly, which took place at 8.10am, involved seven participants who gathered to "express support for Palestine and condemn Israel's actions."

Lazim said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

"Documentation processes for all participants of the assembly have been carried out for further investigation," he added.

Lazim urged the public to refrain from participating in any assemblies that do not comply with legal provisions, warning that "action will be taken against any parties involved."
