SHAH ALAM: A family suffered a loss of RM600,000 after their home in Pandamaran, Klang, was broken into by a group of armed criminals in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Klang Selatan district police chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong said one of the three residents, a 37-year-old man, was injured on the shoulder after being slashed by one of the robbers.
He said that the police received a report at 6.16am from one of the victims regarding the break-in by several men.
"Based on investigations, during the 5am incident, it is believed that between 10 to 12 local suspects, using two vehicles, climbed the fence of the three-storey bungalow before entering the house.
"All suspects, who were wearing face masks, gloves, and armed with machetes, entered a room and tied up the three residents before ransacking the property.
"One of the residents managed to call the police, and as soon as the patrol car arrived, all the suspects fled with two vehicles," he said in a statement today.
Cha said checks revealed that the suspects stole cash, religious statues, and jewellery worth RM600,000.
"A 37-year-old resident was slashed on the shoulder and received stitches at a private hospital in Klang," he added.
Cha said that the investigation is being conducted under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and whipping.
He also said that the police are actively tracking down and arresting the suspects.
