Media Prima committed to close cooperation with police

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Berhad is committed to maintaining close cooperation with the police, especially in delivering important news and information related to public safety to the people.

Its Group Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid said such vital news could be conveyed through various platforms under the company's network which is capable of reaching over 30 million Malaysians daily as well as those within Southeast Asia.

"Through our platforms, Media Prima tries to give a real picture to the community. This includes the role and efforts of the police in protecting the people and maintaining the peace of the country.

"This was proven during the Covid-19 pandemic, during elections and even during the month of Ramadan when we highlighted the role of the police in helping the people.

"At the same time, the police have also given good cooperation to journalists to facilitate their work process," he said during a courtesy visit by senior officers from the Kuala Lumpur police contingent to NSTP Balai Berita, here, today.

The police delegation was led by Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, his deputy Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob and included department heads and district police chiefs.

Media Prima Group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin, Media PrimaTelevision Networks deputy group editor, News & Current Affairs Azhari Muhidin, New Straits Times group editor Farrah Naz Karim, Harian Metro group editor Husain Jahit and Berita Harian deputy group editor Thillinadan Muniandy were present to accompany Rusdi and his entourage during the visit.

Syed Hussian said the transfer of the entire operation of Media Prima from Sri Pentas, in Damansara, Selangor to the Bangsar News Centre was also a significant matter that required continuous cooperation and support of the police.

"The centralisation of our operations to Bangsar is to facilitate the coordination of operations and the sharing of expertise and information between existing media platforms.

"This also means that the security level of our infrastructure at Balai Berita will also be improved and this will only be possible with the support of the police

"As you know, our operation centre is often visited by important individuals, including the prime minister, the cabinet, police top brass and ambassadors," he said, adding that earlier this year, the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong had also graced Media Prima with his presence.
