Media Prima TV networks to broadcast from Balai Berita starting Oct 21

KUALA LUMPUR: All stations under Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN), including TV3, 8TV, DidikTV, and TV9, will begin broadcasting their respective news bulletins from Balai Berita, Bangsar starting Oct 21.

This will mark an end to television news broadcasts from Sri Pentas in Bandar Utama, Selangor.

Jasbant Singh, who is MPTN executive advisor (news and current affairs), said the television networks have been gradually broadcasting from Balai Berita since the start of this month, beginning with DidikTV on Oct 1.

He hailed the move as a historic event.

"This is a historic moment as we transition from Sri Pentas to Balai Berita after three decades, becoming a complete media house under Media Prima and sharing a roof with the New Straits Times, Berita Harian, and Harian Metro," he said.

He said the move was more than just a physical shift, as it also allows the stations access to new systems and studios with even more capabilities.

"We hope to use that technology and integrate it with our style of reporting so that we are in a position to bring news that is more relevant and present it in a more attractive way to reach a wider audience," said Jasbant when met at the pre-launch of the studios in Balai Berita today.

The pre-launch event featured a 'doa selamat' recitation. Among those present were MPB group managing director Rafiq Razali, New Straits Times Press (NSTP) group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman, and MPB group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin.

Also present were MPTN deputy group editor (News and Current Affairs) Azhari Muhidin, New Straits Times group editor Farrah Naz Karim, Harian Metro group editor Husain Jahit, and Berita Harian deputy group editor Thillinadan Muniandy.
