PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry will work with the authorities to probe into the case of a female driver, allegedly mentally ill, who rammed her vehicle into two motorcycles and caused the death of three students in Terengganu.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today said the ministry was ready to lend its expertise to investigative authorities.
"We will provide technical and medical opinion."
He said this after launching the World Mental Health Day celebration here.
Earlier today, the woman, 49, was remanded to custody for four days.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Terengganu deputy police chief Datuk Wan Rukman Wan Hassan said the accident happened about 7.35pm yesterday.
The woman, who was driving a sports utility vehicle, crashed into two motorcycles carrying four students returning to campus.
The three who died were Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, both 20, and Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25.
The fourth student, Muhammad Ammar Danish Mohd Ridhuan, 20, was rushed to Dungun Hospital.
