Disabled man found safe after 3 days missing in forest

KUALA KRAI: A man with a disability who was reported missing in the forested area of the Sungai Pas Land Rehabilitation Scheme, near Lata Pungil, last Tuesday, has been found safe.

Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue station chief, Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa, said that the victim, Azhar Abdul Rashid, 50, was discovered walking in a palm oil plantation at Bukit Chengal by local residents at 8.14pm.

He said the victim was found without clothing and in a weak and hungry state after not having eaten for two days.

"The victim, who was uninjured, was provided with clothing and food by the residents while waiting for the rescue team to arrive," he added.

"After that, we handed him over to the police to be taken to the hospital for further examination," he said when contacted.

Media reports previously indicated that a man was feared missing while picking 'dokong' fruit with a friend in Sungai Pas three days ago.
