BALING: A Perodua Alza was swept away by strong currents during a flash flood in Kampung Binjul here yesterday evening (Oct 13).
However, the occupants, said to be a man and his wife, escaped unhurt in the 10pm incident.
According to villagers, the car was among the dozens of vehicles that tried to drive past the flooded road at about 9pm.
However, it was learnt that the car was swept by a powerful current before landing in a ditch by the roadside.
It was understood that occupants were rescued by villagers and other motorists who pulled them from the vehicle.
A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesman confirmed the incident, adding that the driver and the passenger had already left the scene when rescuers who responded to the report arrived.
Several roads in Baling were affected by the flash floods yesterday evening after several hours of heavy rainfall.
