KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors are filling up Nasi Lemak Saleha in Ampang to enjoy free nasi lemak, courtesy of radio presenter Khairy Jamaluddin.
The event is part of Khairy's "manifesto" to celebrate his recent win for the Popular Radio Announcer category at the 36th Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH) alongside his supporters.
Khairy, popularly known as KJ, spoke at the event and expressed his gratitude to everyone who voted for him.
"Today, we're fulfilling a promise. I pledged that I would treat everyone to a meal if I won. So today, we're keeping that promise.
"Many people have been here since this morning at Nasi Lemak Saleha Ampang, and once again, I want to thank everyone who came and supported me.
"Next year, we might highlight a different candidate because many DJs at Hot FM haven't won yet. I think the best approach is to support each other," he said when met during the radio break session.
When asked about the overwhelming response, he said: "Many people are happy, Alhamdulillah, because we want to appreciate the supporters and even those who gave us a hard time during the competition.
"It's been a lively morning, with a constant stream of people supporting Hot FM."
As his contract with Hot FM ends later this year, KJ humorously hinted at a contract renewal.
"We'll need to discuss it with Hot FM because now that I've won, the rate has to go up, right?" he jested.
Meanwhile, touching on his political career, KJ said he is not in a rush to return to the arena.
"For now, I'm comfortable with my life and career. I'm not in a rush to return to politics.
"Of course, I wish to return one day because that's my original world. But when I do, I'll take my time."
