Hajiji: Don't wait for land titles to be issued before starting federal projects

KOTA KINABALU: Federal development projects can be implemented without waiting for the land title to be issued, says Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said as long as the land has been gazetted for the purpose, the projects should not remain idle.

"If land is needed to build schools and clinics, the state government will facilitate to avoid any delay in the implementation of the projects," he said.

"Participation and cooperation between the state government and federal agencies in Sabah must be strengthened to ensure smooth implementation of projects," he said in a statement after chairing the State Development Action Council (MTPNg) meeting at Menara Kinabalu here today.

Hajiji also touched on the tabling of the 2025 National Budget this Friday, saying that Sabah is expected to continue to receive allocation earmarked for rural development.

"I was made to understand that under the 2025 Budget, rural development will continue to receive allocations to narrow the gap between rural and urban areas and improve basic amenities, particularly for dilapidated schools and clinics in Sabah.

"For this purpose, the focus would be on ensuring full access to basic utilities, particularly roads, clean treated water, and electricity supply," he said.

Hajiji said the government will also continue to enhance the people's well-being, ranging from social security provision for people across the board, employment with better salaries and measures as well as policies that will see a fair distribution of the nation's wealth.

He said Sabah was optimistic that the 2025 Budget would bring Malaysia closer to realising the objectives of the Madani Economy with cooperation from all Malaysians.
