Police launch investigation into viral clip involving Kedah MB's aide in altercation

ALOR STAR: Police have launched an investigation into a clip allegedly featuring an aide to Menteri Besar Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor engaged in an argument with representatives of a night market here.

Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Siti Nor Salawati Saad said an investigation was launched after two police reports were lodged over the clip, which has gone viral on social media.

She said the first report was lodged at 1.25am, followed by the second at 10.58am today. Siti Nor Salawati however did not elaborate the individuals, who lodged the report.

"Based on the video, several individuals were involved in a verbal dispute, with one seated in the driver's seat of a vehicle, while others, including those suspected to be involved, were outside," she said in a statement.

Siti Nor Salawati ada that the case is being investigated under Section 352 of the Penal Code for using criminal force and Section 504 of the same code for intentionally insulting and provoking a person, knowing that it can disrupt public peace

She added that the case is also being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network service.

"Both parties have been called to the Kota Setar district police headquarters to have their statements recorded.

"The public is urged not to speculate while investigations are ongoing, and witnesses are encouraged to come forward," she added.

Meanwhile, Sanusi, when contacted, said he had no information regarding the incident.

"I don't know anything, go ask him (the aid)," he said.
