Wall collapse kills boy, 7

MELAKA: A 7-year-old boy was killed when a cement wall from a three-storey shophouse at Kompleks Al-Azim here collapsed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 10.15pm. The victim, Ong Lun Keat, from Taman Bukit Baru Solok Bukit Pulau, died while receiving treatment at the Melaka Hospital.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said that the incident was reported by a 34-year-old Domino's Pizza manager at the Bukit Baru police station.

According to the report, the manager said that two children, an adult male, and six motorcycles were struck by the falling cement wall from above the Domino's Pizza restaurant at the Bukit Baru branch.

"Investigations revealed that the boy and his five-year-old brother were accompanying their father to a bank in the area. As they exited the bank, a cement wall gave way and collapsed on them, causing Lun Keat to sustain serious injuries. His 42-year-old father and younger brother suffered minor injuries," he said.
