ALOR STAR: The Inland Revenue Board is actively engaging social media influencers and content creators to create awareness among the public about their responsibility to pay their taxes.
Kedah IRB director Nor Azam Mohamad said, through the initiative, the agency aimed to reach out to the influencers and content creators' followers who belonged to diverse demographics.
"Yes, we do have collaborations with social media influencers and content creators at the headquarters level and the state level.
"We invite them to our programmes to spread information and awareness to their followers," he told reporters after opening the state IRB's mini-carnival at Wisma Hasil in Anak Bukit here today.
The mini-carnival also featured local influencer Siti Nabilah Dol Bahrin or popularly known as Kak Nab in a podcast session.
Azam said the objective of the programme was to spread awareness and educate the public about their duty to the nation by paying taxes.
"We are also focusing on inculcating awareness among youths aged 18 and above since they are already in our system, although they have yet to enter the job market.
"It is important to create awareness of their duty to the nation, once they begin earning an income," he said.
Azam added that the state IRB was also actively engaging with the business community and industry players to brief them on the e-invoicing facility that was implemented on Aug 1.
"We have scheduled briefing sessions especially with the business community and industry players in Kedah.
"In fact, they may submit a request for us to come over and carry out a briefing on e-invoicing," he said.
The government launched a free e-invoicing solution portal, Myinvois following the implementation of the first phase of einvoicing implementation on Aug 1.
The portal enables taxpayers to register and perform their einvoicing activities via the website.
