Police seize RM13,000 worth of firecrackers in Saujana Damansara raid

KUALA LUMPUR: The police seized firecrackers worth RM13,000 in a raid conducted yesterday at a two-storey terrace house in Saujana Damansara, which did not have a valid permit.

In a statement, Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner, Shahrulnizam Jaafar, said that a local man, who admitted to supplying the firecrackers, was also arrested during the operation.

"A total of 22 boxes, each containing 40 units of Happy Boom Red Cracker firecrackers, were successfully seized during the 4:30pm raid.

The arrested individual and the seized items were brought to the district police headquarters," he said.

Shahrulnizam added that the case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.

He also urged anyone with information about illegal activities to report to the district police headquarters at 03-79662222 or to the investigating officer, Inspector Muhamad Shahiren Ibrahim, at 019-5693864.
