KUALA LUMPUR: The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has successfully removed a Proton Saga that was damaged in a landslide on Jalan Maju 1/14, Lembah Maju.
In a statement today, it declared the area a prohibited zone.
"Concrete barriers and safety tape have been installed to prevent public and vehicular access to the affected area, which is currently under repair," the statement read.
The incident occurred at 4am when the vehicle entered a section where slope repairs were underway and subsequently fell.
"Following the incident, enforcement personnel from the council, police, and the Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene.
"A similar landslide occurred at the same location on Oct 13, but thankfully, no casualties were reported," it said.
Public parking spaces in the area have been cordoned off for safety.
By 11.30am, the damaged vehicle was removed using a crane, and repair work on the affected drainage pipes by Air Selangor is currently in progress.
MPAJ advises the public to avoid the area for their own safety.
Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail confirmed that the district police control centre was alerted to the incident at 4.35am.
