HULU SELANGOR: Police detained a 65-year-old man to assist in investigations following the death of a form one student who was hit by a car while crossing Jalan Kampung Gesir Tengah on Tuesday.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim confirmed the matter when contacted.

"The 65-year-old individual was not remanded.

"He was temporarily detained to assist in the investigation," he briefly told Harian Metro via WhatsApp yesterday.

Earlier, Faizal reported that police received information about the incident at 7.40am.

The 13-year-old boy was on his way to school, while the car driver was travelling from Kampung Rahmat, Felda Gedangsa, to Tanjung Malim.

"When he arrived at the location, the victim reportedly crossed the road suddenly from the left side, and the driver was unable to avoid him, and he crashed into the boy.

"The boy's father took him on a private vehicle to Klinik Selisik. However, when they reached Dewan Serbaguna Selisik, he was pronounced dead.

"The body was taken to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for a post-mortem," he said.

The Toyota Vios involved in the accident is now held at the Hulu Selangor Traffic Division for further action.

Faizal said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
