Felda settler in coma to return home from Madinah next week

JOHOR BARU: After three months of treatment in Madinah, comatose Felda Maokil 1 settler Md Hussin Parawangai is set to return home on Nov 12.

The cost of the 68-year-old settler's medical transfer is estimated at RM80,000, with RM30,000 currently raised through donations.

Md Hussin fell into a coma following a heart attack shortly after performing Umrah, just days before he was scheduled to return home on July 27.

His wife, Jannariah Kimun, 62, expressed mixed emotions, describing her anticipation of his return as bittersweet.

Jannariah said her husband's transfer was arranged by a medical agency in coordination with the hospital in Madinah.

Their two daughters, Noriza, 39, and Norain, 38, will travel to Madinah to assist with the process.

"He is expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and will then be transferred to a hospital in the capital for follow-up care," she said.

"One of our daughters works at the hospital where he will receive treatment, and she will monitor his progress closely."

Both daughters, who live and work in Kuala Lumpur, will provide ongoing care for their father until he is stable enough to return to Johor.

A doctor and nurse will accompany Md Hussin during his journey from Madinah Cardiaz Centre in Al Jamiah to Kuala Lumpur.

The Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAIJ) has also offered financial assistance to support the family.

"I am grateful yet anxious about the risks he may face during the journey. I hope everything goes smoothly and will be waiting eagerly for his return," she said.

Md Hussin's hospital expenses in Madinah have been partially covered by his Umrah visa insurance.
