RMAF personnel among two killed in Sidam Kiri motorcycle collision

SUNGAI PETANI: Two men, including a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel, were killed when their motorcycles collided along Jalan Kampung Kubang Sapi, Sidam Kiri, near here at about 7am today.

Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said Muhammad Amyrul Safuan Fadzil, 31, who was assigned to the engineering division of the RMAF base in Kuala Lumpur, was on his way from Sidam Kiri to Pinang Tunggal when Muhammad Hambalee Ishak, 27, who was coming from the opposite direction, lost control of his Yamaha Y15ZR and collided with the front of Muhammad Amyrul's Yamaha NVX.

"Muhammad Amyrul suffered head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene, while Muhammad Hambalee also suffered head injuries and was confirmed dead as well," he said in a statement today.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the negligence of the Yamaha Y15ZR rider, who failed to control his vehicle, caused the accident.

"Both victims have been taken to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital's forensics unit here for autopsy, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
