KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said 21 cases related to 3R (religion, race and the royal institution) were prosecuted between 2023 and September this year.
She said eight cases were prosecuted between January and September this year.
"Of these, five cases were related to the royal institution, with four undergoing trial and one having been sentenced.
"Three cases involving religious issues prosecuted in 2024 have resulted in sentencing.
"However, no race-related 3R cases were prosecuted in 2024," she said in a written reply to a question from Kamal Ashaari (PN-Kuala Krau) regarding the number of 3R-related cases prosecuted and convicted since last year.
Azalina said for 2023, 13 3R-related cases were prosecuted throughout the year.
"Of these, eight cases involved the royal institution, with three undergoing trial, two acquitted and three having been sentenced.
"Additionally, three cases concerning religious issues prosecuted in 2023 have been sentenced.
"Two cases related to racial issues were prosecuted in 2023 with one undergoing trial and another having been sentenced," she said.
