ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor announced today that new remuneration for 5,376 state civil servants will take effect next month.
Sanusi said the state government has allocated an additional RM30 million next year to fund the salary adjustment for civil servants who had accepted the public service remuneration system (SSPA) effective December.
"Therefore, I hereby announce the increment will be paid beginning the December 2024 salary. The total increment is RM2 million for 2024," he said while presenting the Kedah 2025 Budget at the State Legislative Assembly in Wisma Darul Aman today.
The Perikatan Nasional Jeneri assemblyman also announced a RM2,000 special cash aid to all civil servants in the state for next year.
Sanusi said the special pay-out will be made twice in March and June next year as a token of appreciation for the civil servants' contribution to the state.
"The total allocation for this purpose is RM12 million involving 5,376 state civil servants," he said.
The announcement followed the federal government's announcement in August on the phased implementation of SSPA from December 2024.
This included, among others, revision to the services scheme, basic wage, allowances, benefits and pensions.
