BSN, Harian Metro honour media practitioners through charity drive

KUALA LUMPUR: Harian Metro has collaborated with Bank Simpanan Nasional on a charity initiative to honour media practitioners for their critical role in shaping an informed society.

Dubbed the 'BSN Care 50 Memberi—BSN Jengah, Titipan Kasih Harian Metro (TKHM)', the programme involved 13 media members, including former journalists from various agencies, who received cash donations and essential goods.

The programme also marks BSN's golden jubilee anniversary.

Harian Metro group editor and TKHM chairman Husain Jahit said the initiative aims to acknowledge their contributions to the media industry while alleviating their financial burdens.

"We at Media Prima Bhd and Harian Metro hope to strengthen our partnerships with organisations like BSN.

"Together, we can continue to play our respective roles in delivering valuable information to society while enhancing brand visibility," he said.

Also present were BSN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin, BSN chief executive officer Jay Khairil, Media Prima Berhad group managing editor of news Jasbant Singh, Harian Metro executive editor Yusri Abdul Malek, NSTP business operations, sales and marketing support general manager Aswan Abdul Kadir, and Harian Metro editor Noor Azam Abdul Aziz.

Meanwhile, BSN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin said the media has acted as a platform for education and community building.

"BSN is honoured to work with Harian Metro through this programme, underscoring our commitment to supporting media practitioners.

"Their role in fostering an informed and competitive society is indispensable," he said.

The recipients included journalists and photographers facing health and financial challenges, such as cataracts, chronic illnesses, and other medical conditions.

Beneficiaries spanned various media outlets, including Astro Awani, Utusan, RTM, Sinar Harian, and The New Straits Times Press (NSTP).
