PASIR MAS: Police have received 114 crank calls related to floods since Nov 29.
District police chief, Assistant Commissioner Kama Azural Mohamed, said the latest seven calls came in yesterday from flood victims in the Bakong and Meranti areas. A rescue team was immediately dispatched to the affected areas.
"What upset us was that the calls were actually fake. The rescue team thought that they wanted to evacuate, but the flood victims did not want to leave their homes.
"They simply wanted food and supplies delivered," he said when met at Repek flood operation control centre here today.
Kama Azural expressed disappointment over this behaviour, saying that it hinders rescue efforts.
