KANGAR: Perlis has seen an RM1 million increase in revenue from 523,171 visitors since the launch of Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025 earlier this year.
State Tourism, Arts, and Culture Committee chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah said the increase, recorded up until October, was attributed to community events and ticket sales for tourism products managed by the state.
He pointed out that the growth was especially noticeable at ecotourism sites managed by the Perlis State Forestry Department, including the Sungai Batu Pahat Eco-Tourism Complex, Gua Kelam Eco-Tourism Complex, Perlis State Park, Wang Kelian Viewpoint, and Bukit Kubu Eco-Rimba Park.
"Other popular hiking spots, such as Pintu Wang Gunung, Bukit Jernih, and Gunung Perlis, have also contributed to this boost in revenue," he said.
Abu Bakari said that the Perlis State Agriculture Department generated RM48,077 in revenue from the Exotic Fruits Garden, while the Perlis State Veterinary Department's Agrovet Park attracted 58,658 visitors, generating RM105,920 in revenue since the introduction of entrance fees in December.
"This success reflects the growing appeal of Perlis as a key ecotourism destination," he said, responding to a question from Saad Seman (PN-Chuping) at the State Assembly today.
