KUALA LUMPUR: An increasing number of wives are willing to pay to hire private investigators to spy on their husbands.
According to a Kosmo! report, a private investigator said most of these clients come from elite or VVIP circles, who were suspicious of their husbands.
Tun Security Services Sdn. Bhd chief private investigator Hafize Adnan said cases of infidelity were the most common ones handled by his team so far.
Sharing an interesting case, he mentioned a female VVIP in her sixties who hired a private investigator to spy on her husband's movements.
"She claimed her husband had affairs with many women," he said.
He explained that the investigation took about three weeks because the man frequently travelled abroad, where he engaged in his 'affairs'.
"Our client mainly wanted to ensure and confirm that her husband had no other wives. It was more about property interests," he said, adding that the fee for the case was around RM36,000.
He said the investigations usually succeed in obtaining the evidence wanted by their clients.
Before taking on a case, his team ensures all provided information is accurate, though sometimes it turns out to be mere suspicion.
"However, the wife's suspicions are usually proven true after surveillance and investigation. Cases cannot be proven if there are no activities or movements by the husband as claimed by the client," he said.
He added that all evidence of infidelity obtained can be used by clients as additional proof for claims in civil or syariah courts.
"We gather all evidence and compile a complete report that is admissible in court. We can even be called as professional witnesses.
"However, clients must ensure that the PI they hire is from a registered company with a license under the Home Ministry.
"Many have been deceived and suffered losses from hiring unlicensed PIs," he said.
He added that besides wives, many husbands also hire PIs to spy on their suspected unfaithful spouses.
"The payment amount varies depending on the case and the time required, with rates starting at RM800 per day.
"The payment amount has reached up to RM50,000 for high-profile infidelity cases requiring long-term investigations, including surveillance abroad," he said.
He mentioned that PIs will record photos and videos and obtain other evidence such as specific receipts and CCTV footage to prove unusual activities between the spouse and other individuals as claimed.
"Additionally, we also use gadgets to assist in surveillance," he said.
