Kelantan govt urges prompt disbursement of approved federal allocations

KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government has urged that allocations previously approved by the federal government for the state be expedited, particularly those related to public welfare.

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said this was to ensure that the announced projects in the state could be implemented promptly.

He expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's assurance that the federal government maintains fairness, even towards opposition-led states.

"However, I appeal for all approved allocations, especially those concerning public welfare and disaster mitigation, such as flood barriers, to be expedited.

"This will enable the projects to be implemented swiftly according to the people's needs.

"Kelantan isn't asking for equal allocations as other states; if others are in greater need, give to them first.

"Nevertheless, what we require should be provided, in line with the spirit of federalism," he said when met yesterday.

Anwar has affirmed the federal government's commitment to fairness in distributing allocations to states affected by disasters, including opposition-led states.

He said the federal government has increased allocations to these states to address critical issues effectively.
