DUNGUN: Mohd Firdaus Daniel Zulkifli crumbled after discovering the lifeless body of his father lying face down in a bush in Kampung Durian Mentangau, near here, today.
"My heart broke the moment I realised the body was my father," the 18-year-old said.
He said he found his father, Zulkifli Awi, 54, at around 12 noon.
"My father, who worked as a scrap metal collector, left home at about 6am yesterday. Usually, he would return home for lunch, but he didn't come back even by 7pm last night," he said when met at the scene.
He added that he tried calling his father's mobile phone, but there was no answer. This led him to go to his father's workplace this morning.
"He wasn't there. Not long after, I received a call from one of my father's friends, who had found his car in Kampung Durian Mentangau. With two friends, I managed to locate the car. We followed footprints believed to belong to my father, eventually finding him lying face down, lifeless," he said.
Meanwhile, Dungun police chief, Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
According to her, investigations revealed no signs of foul play. The victim's body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Dungun Hospital for further action. The case has been classified as sudden death for now.
