Shocking discovery: Python swallows Boer goat in Sik

SIK: A rubber tapper was shocked to discover a fully-fed python, believed to have just consumed her Boer goat, in Kampung Keda Bendang Man this morning.

The woman, in her 50s, made the unsettling discovery while tapping rubber near the goat pen at 10am.

She quickly contacted the Fire and Rescue Department for assistance.

Sik Fire and Rescue station chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said a team led by Senior Fire Officer II Shahril Salleh, along with seven other personnel, arrived shortly after.

He said that the reticulated python, which weighed 15kg and measured four metres in length, likely entered the area after the recent floods.

"The python, probably hungry, had just eaten the Boer goat," he added.

The firefighters took 15 minutes to capture the large reptile due to its size and weight.

The python was safely secured using a snare, despite being fully fed.

Zulkhairi also urged the public to remain cautious during weather changes, especially when cleaning their homes.

"Various dangerous wildlife, including venomous snakes and centipedes, may seek shelter and food in residential areas," he said.
