KUALA LUMPUR: Police have questioned three individuals, including two US citizens, following the circulation of a viral video showing two foreigners allegedly attempting to distribute Christian pamphlets publicly in Wangsa Maju.
City Police Chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob confirmed that police had also recorded a statement from the complainant.
"Investigations revealed the two foreigners were in their 30's and hailed from the United States.
"They entered Malaysia as tourists before Christmas," he told reporters.
Yesterday, Wangsa Maju police issued a statement over the video which had gone viral.
The video showed two foreigners holding books, believed to be bibles.
A man's voice could be heard telling them that they cannot do what they were doing in Malaysia.
The man, believed to be the person who recorded the incident spoke calmly and told them that their actions were wrong.
Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said police opened investigations under Section 298A of the Penal Code.
