Motorcyclist killed in collision with foreign driver

KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car driven by a foreigner in Serendah on Thursday.

Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the accident involved a 48-year-old local motorcyclist and a car driven by a 50-year-old Pakistani man.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred on Jan 2 at approximately 6pm at Jalan Azalea 1/1, Sg Choh.

"When the traffic light turned green, the motorcyclist proceeded but was suddenly hit by a car coming from the right side," Faizal said in a statement yesterday.

He said the impact threw the motorcyclist to the side of the road.

Faizal said the motorcyclist was rushed to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead at 8.45pm while receiving treatment.

The car driver, he said, sustained no injuries.

"A post-mortem examination would be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

"The vehicles involved have been detained for further investigation," he said.

He said the case is being investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Those with information on the accident are urged to come forward and contact the police to facilitate the investigations.
