KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu Youth (Armada) executive councillor Meor Safwat Naqiuddin Shamsudin has resigned as the party's head of the professional and volunteer bureau.
In a statement, Meor said his resignation was due to differences in opinion between him and the Youth's head, Muhammad Hilman Idham, regarding the administrative structure of Armada Bersatu Malaysia, which he claimed to be 'unconventional and does not reflect good governance practices', posing a risk to the stability of the Youth wing as a whole.
Meor, however, said that he would remain an exco member without a designated portfolio.
"I will focus on empowering and maximising the potential, energy, and talents of Armada members with the goals of building strong leadership profiles and marketability of leaders; enhancing knowledge related to policies, politics, administration, and general knowledge; sustaining and strengthening the organisation at all levels; and self-preparation to be resilient against the challenges of political dynamics, social changes, and economic uncertainties towards the mission of winning elections and making Bersatu the people's choice party," he said.
"I hope Armada Bersatu continues to flourish as a platform and choice of the people in line with its spirit and principles of struggle," he added.
Meor became the Youth's head of the professional and volunteer bureau during the party's annual general assembly on Nov 29 last year, while Muhammad Hilman, Gombak Setia assemblyman, was elected as Bersatu Youth chief for the 2024-2027 term.
