KUALA LUMPUR: The uniqueness and diversity of Malaysian culture was captured in a multiracial Christmas celebration video in Sabah.
The 30 second video posted on the Sabah Info Facebook page showed a group of people of different religions singing Christmas carols at a Christmas celebration party.
The post claimed that the video was taken at a Sabah government department Christmas party but does not provide additional details.
In the video, the group of Malaysians were seen singing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and English.
The caption on the post read: "Only in Borneo. Hopefully this unity and harmony is continuously nurtured in Sabah."
So far, the video has received more than 900,000 views, with over 6200 shares and comments since it was posted yesterday.
One of the comments Netizens made in the comments section was none other than asking Malaysians in the peninsula to learn from Sabahans.
"Sabah is an example of harmonious Malaysia", one of them wrote.
Alex Molius wrote: "We must maintain harmony and unity as long as possible in the land of Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak)."
Marcella Imanuel wrote: "(This is) best ... maintain the harmony ... respect one another's religion."
Azali Azzanova wrote: "For us in Sabah, this is normal…our faith is not challenged...being able to celebrate the festival together regardless of religion and race...this is called 1 Malaysia…Malaysia is a pluralistic country and that is the uniqueness in Sabah… What is important is to take care of the unity, harmony and security of our country."
